On Our Mind

Colorado Rockies Lose Home Opener 6-3 in Frigid Conditions

It’s that time of year again! Our beloved Colorado Rockies opened up their season at Coors field with a 6-3 loss against the (West Sacramento?) A’s. The home opener was the second coldest home opener in Rockies history at 37 degrees, with a mix of rain and snow. If you were among the sell out crowd of 48,105 Coloradans at the game, we are sorry that you had to suffer through that performance and witness the 14 Rockies strikeouts. The Rockies started the season 1-6, matching the illustrious 2005 and 2024 teams for a franchise worst-start through seven games.

The good news? If you work for the Rockies, maybe you will be too busy working during the games to actually have to watch them. If you don’t yet work for the Rockies, feel free to check out one of their five current openings here.

Tip of the Week

Non-Negotiables

It can be very easy to just apply to every single job posting you see especially if you are in a situation in which you desperately need a job ASAP. If you find yourself doing this, it may be doing more harm (wasting time applying to jobs you won’t be happy with) than good.

When applying, be sure you know your list of requirements for your next role. Or, at least know your deal breakers. Does this job require travel? If it says yes and you know you absolutely cannot travel, it may benefit you to skip that application. If you haven’t made up your mind about travel or you’re excited to travel, go and apply!

Here are a few categories to consider:

  • Schedule: Do you need flexibility for childcare, health reasons, or work-life balance?

  • Location: Are you open to hybrid or remote roles, or do you want something fully in-person?

  • Compensation: What’s your salary floor? What benefits matter most to you (e.g. healthcare, parental leave, 401k)?

  • Team & Culture: Do you thrive in small, scrappy teams or larger, structured environments?

  • Mission/Industry: Are there industries or missions that really light you up—or ones you want to avoid?

Once you know what really matters to you, you’ll spend less time spinning your wheels and more time chasing jobs that feel like the right fit.

You deserve a job that fits your life—not the other way around.
